Comments: 1860 Counterfeit Variety 101 was first highlighted by Chris Majtykas based on specimen appearing on eBay January 2010. Recently, Brian Greer revealed an outstanding example in his collection as picture above. Weight is 5.9 grams and compostion appears to be of brass or bronze alloy. The eBay piece shows traces of a light plating or silver wash. The Brian Greer example is medal turn die alignment. The handcut dies are well executed featuring Liberty with a masculine frown.
