Comparion of Counterfeit with 1842-O F-105
Comments: Dies appear to be from an original 1842-O host coin as there is no evidence to suggest the dies being hand cut. Further checking by the author indicates that 1842-O F-105 Medium O variety is most likely the host coin coin for fabrication of bogo dies. The coin is copper in color but rings like silver. Winston Zack of Chicago Coin Company suggests that the coin might be a copper/silver alloy or the coin may have had a light silver coloring to convince others of its authenticity. Weight is approximately 2.35 grams.
