Comparion of Counterfeit with 1839-O F-105
Comments: Copper, rare only one seen. Careful examination of this lone specimen revealed an obverse and reverse match with business strike dies employed for 1839-O F-105. Note the star and date placements match between the counterfeit and business strike obverse, same with mintmark size and position match on the reverse.
The lettering looks closer to the wreath in places especially ICA in AMERICA, probably due to the extra thickness of the lettering. Also several letters are misshapen, note the first S in STATES. It is suspected that this specimen is from some type of transfer die.
