LSCC 40th Anniversary - 2013
Silver and Gold LSCC Medal Project
LSCC officers have authorized a committee to study issuing 40th Anniversay Silver and Gold Medals. Dennis Fortier is leading the Medal committee. This page will announce committee meeting results and upcoming plans for striking Silver and Gold Medals..
At the 2011 annual LSCC meeting in Chicago, a survey of members present indicated a high interest in striking a medal to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the LSCC. A committee including Bill Bugert, Len Augsburger, Gerry Fortin and Dennis Fortier was formed with Dennis handling chairperson responsibilities.
November 2011 Whitman
Baltimore Show Committee Meeting Results
1. Utilize Gobrecht Dollar obverse and reverse design as basis for medal. On the obverse, the date would be shown as 1973-2013. On the reverse, the ONE DOLLAR denomination and UNITED STATES OF AMERICA legend would be replaced with LIBERTY SEATED COLLECTORS CLUB - 40th ANNIVERSAY
2. One set of dies will be prepared to strike Silver and Gold Medals. The dies will not be polished with Silver Medals struck with typical business strike appearance. Gold Medals will be struck with polished planchets resulting in a proof like finish.
3. The club will strike a fixed number of one ounce Silver Medals. Actually amount to be struck is still undetermined.
4. The club will strike a small number of one ounce Gold Medals. Gold Medals will be struck on a prepaid basis or by submission of a gold one ounce bullion coin for melting and striking. There will be a $100 charge for the melting and striking of Gold Medals. Each Gold Medal will be scribed with the LSCC member's membership number. Only one Gold Medal will be allowed per club member.
5. The club will strike a small number of uniface Silver Medals for future Gobrecht Journal (Kamal Ahwash) annual awards and E-Gobrecht awards.
