Numismatic Resouces for Liberty Seated Collectors
A number of hardbound books and electronic resources are available to assist and educate collectors of seated coinage. This page is an attempt to capture the most popular reference resources.
The LSCC Gobrecht
Journal Collective Volumes
There
are currently five volumes in this series, covering the periods
1974-1980, 1980-1985, 1985-1990, 1990-1995, and 1995-2000. These
volumes contain the collected articles of the Gobrecht Journal
for the listed years, rearranged per denomination in an easy to
search format. As many of the early issues of the Journal
are scarce, the collective volumes are a convenient way to access
the gathered work of the club in a single set of volumes. The
following collective volumes are available:
Collective Volume I, contains Gobrecht Journal issues 1-18, December
1974 to July 1980. 390 pages. $29 per copy.
Collective Volume II, contains Gobrecht Journal issues 19-33,
November 1980 to July 1985. 380 pages. $29 per copy.
Collective Volume III, contains Gobrecht Journal issues 34-48,
November 1985 to July 1990. 470 pages. $34 per copy.
Collective Volume IV, contains Gobrecht Journal issues 49-63,
November 1990 to July 1995. 580 pages. $44 per copy.
Collective Volume V, contains Gobrecht Journal issues 64-78, November
1995 to July 2000. 644 pages. $60 per copy.
The collective volumes can be ordered from the LSCC President,
John
McCloskey.
The Gobrecht
Journal Comprehensive Index
This
index covers all issues from #1 to #100. It was started by Dick
Osburn (originally described in GJ #67) who completed the entries
through issue #76, and updated by Len Augsburger. There are over
five thousand entries in the index; articles in the Gobrecht Journal
are cross-referenced by each coin in a given article. Photos are
noted, so you can immediately see if a photo for a given coin
has ever appeared in the Journal. The index is maintained in an
Excel spreadsheet (size about 800K) which can be downloaded here
.
