The following proposal was approved by the LSCC membership at the 2007 Milwaukee ANA. The first Hall of Fame class will be inducted at the 2008 Baltimore ANA Convention.LSCC Hall of FameThe LSCC Hall of Fame is being established to recognize club members who have made significant contributions to expanding the literature on Seated coinage, who have built an important collection of Liberty Seated coinage or who have served in a leadership position while contributing to the success of LSCC. Individuals will be selected for this honor by a committee of five club members appointed by the club officers. The committee selections will be announced during the club meeting at the ANA Summer Convention. Individuals selected for this honor will receive a plaque recognizing their admission to the Hall of Fame and a citation describing their contributions will be published in the Gobrecht Journal.
ARTICLE I - The Selection CommitteeSection 1. A Selection Committee of five club members will be appointed each year and announced during the club meeting at the ANA Summer Convention.
Section 2. Committee members will be appointed for a term of one year. There is no limit on the number of terms that an individual may serve on the Committee.
ARTICLE II – Duties of the Selection CommitteeSection 1. The Selection Committee will choose one of its own members as Committee Chairman and he will represent the committee during its term of office. A Committee Chairman will be selected by September 1st of each year.
Section 2. Nominations for admission to the Hall of Fame will be solicited in the fall notice sent to all club members and nominations can be made to the Committee Chairman until December 31st of each year.
Section 3. The Selection Committee will select no more than two individuals each year for admission to the Hall of Fame. The Committee will notify the club President of their selections each year by June 1st to allow time to prepare the award plaques for presentation during the club meeting at the ANA Summer Convention.
Section 4. The Committee Chairman will select club members to prepare the citations for publication in the Gobrecht Journal.
Section 5. The Committee Chairman will prepare an announcement describing the accomplishments of the individuals admitted to the LSCC Hall of Fame and submit it to the numismatic media.
ARTICLE III – Duties of the Club OfficersSection 1. The club Secretary-Treasurer will, upon request, provide information to the Committee Chairman on membership status to verify eligibility for the Hall of Fame and provide a list of club publications by the nominee in support of eligibility for the Hall of Fame.
Section 2. The club Secretary-Treasurer will maintain a permanent listing of the individuals admitted to the Hall of Fame that includes their name and their date of admission.
Section 3. The club President will have the Hall of Fame plaques prepared for the individuals selected for admission to the Hall of Fame.
ARTICLE IV – Eligibility Requirements for Selection to the Hall of FameSection 1. Nominees must be active club members for a period of at least ten years or former members must have been active for a period of at least ten years.
Section 2. Former club members who are deceased are eligible for selection to the Hall of Fame provided they were active for a period of at least ten years.
ARTICLE V – List of Contributions worthy of Nomination to the LSCC Hall of FameAny of the contributions listed below will entitle an individual to be considered for admission to the Hall of Fame.
Section 1. A nominee can be recognized for significant advances in numismatic research on Seated coinage. The significance of this research as reflected by member voting for the Pryor Research Award will be an important consideration.
Section 2. A nominee can be recognized for significant contributions to the numismatic literature on Seated coinage. The number of contributions made by the nominee as well as their significance as reflected by member voting for the annual Ahwash Award will be an important consideration.
Section 3. A nominee can be recognized for his work in building a significant collection of Seated coins in at least one of the Seated series. Documentation of the quality of this collection through an auction catalogue, the listing of the collection as a Registry Set or a description of the collection in a numismatic publication will be an important consideration.
Section 4. A nominee can be recognized for significant service contributions as a club officer or club representative in carrying out the club mission. A nominee should have served at least five years in a leadership position with the club and made contributions that significantly improved club services to members.
