Liberty Seated Collector's Club

Uniting Collectors of Liberty Seated Coinage Since 1974

Our featured coin (shown above) - an 1872-S Seated Dollar in AU condition.  The coin is surrounded by lovely rim toning, a hallmark of the Amon Carter collection from which this specimen originates.

The Liberty Seated Collectors Club is a group of over six hundred collectors and dealers dedicated to the study and attribution of the American silver Liberty Seated coinage of the 19th century.  The Gobrecht Journal is the official publication of the club and is published three times each year.  Issues are 52 pages in length and are distributed to club members in March, July, and November.  Sample articles from the Gobrecht Journal are available via the "Online Articles" link above.  Club dues are $20 per year, payable to the Secretary-Treasurer.  In addition to the Gobrecht Journal, the club issues an electronic email newsletter, the E-Gobrecht, which is free to members and non-members alike.  To receive the E-Gobrecht, send an email to the E-Gobrecht editor requesting to be added to the distribution list.

The Gobrecht Journal contains articles on all denominations of Liberty Seated coinage, from the half dime to the Trade dollar.  Article topics include:

* Rarity & valuation of specific dates and varieties in each of the series
* Obverse and reverse die pairs used to strike particular issues
* 19th century minting processes and how unusual pieces were struck
 * Retrospectives on important seated collections and collectors

Members are encouraged to describe their personal experiences while collecting Seated coinage, and articles frequently indicate which issues are overrated or underrated in relation to current retail prices.  The E-Gobrecht contains information of a more timely nature, such as  recent auction sales, Ebay happenings, announcements related to upcoming major shows and exhibits, etc.

The LSCC is pleased to announce the publication of Gobrecht Journal #100 in November, 2007, featuring a color cover depicting a lovely 1849-O quarter in about uncirculated condition.
